After a string of social media posts that hint at it, Italian supercar-maker Lamborghini has finally announced its first NFT (non-fungible token) project. Space Key is a project that was created in collaboration with an unidentified artist, and based on cutting-edge carbon fiber composite materials that were shipped to the International Space Station as research material, is a project that has been announced by Lamborghini.

At the center of each Space Key is a block of advanced carbon fire composite material, which was sent to the International Space Station in 2019 as part of a research program. After returning to Earth, the block was engraved using a QR code that links to the digital component in the Space Key.

Each of the five Space Keys will feature a distinct moment that happens seconds apart as the Lamborghini Ultimae lifts off toward the stars. More than 600 million pixels up each of the five images which were taken by photographer Fabian Oefner.
