Robot vacuums and mop are getting more efficient. They pass our tests on cleaning and can handle a variety of floors. Choose models that permit users to select between different types, including self-emptying and clean stairs.

When I tried the S1 It was quick to locate the downstairs area, which has Linoleum flooring in the kitchen/dining room and bathrooms, plus medium-pile carpeting and a large area rug. It was able to drive right up to walls without colliding with them, and was able to cross raised room thresholds with no issue, though it occasionally had trouble navigating down stairs in a single move. The S1 also did a fantastic job of cleaning hard floors by dragging its mop effortlessly on its flat side against the floor and lifting itself when it reached carpet or carpet.

The docking station of the S1 automatically emptys its trash bin and replenishes its water tank onboard with clean, ozonated water prior to each mopping session. The dock also includes a cleaning solution in the water to ensure deep cleaning. The S1's water tank holds enough for about a dozen cleaning sessions before it has to be emptied, though this will vary depending the amount you use the mop.

The S1 needs periodic maintenance, just like other 2-in-1 robots. In order to do this, you'll have to wash the dirty water tank occasionally to avoid it from clogging. You will also need to clean your swivel wheel and sensors regularly to avoid them becoming clogged up with dirt or dust. Overall the S1 requires less maintenance than other combos.

2. Ecovacs Deebot X2 Combo Complete

Ecovacs' all-in-one robot vacuum and mop is an effective solution for cleaning. The Ecovacs robot vacuum comes with 8700Pa of suction power and comes with a number advanced features like voice control and smart path scheduling that cleans furniture and eliminates obstacles. Its mopping capability is impressive, with rotating mops that actually lift and scrub the floor, as opposed to just dragging the pad across it. The mops are also cleaned and dried in the base station as required.

This robot combination is simple to set up and use, with a simple interface that guides you through the procedure. It also comes with a hand vacuum that can be used to clean those hard-to reach areas that the robot vacuum best is unable to reach. There are two water tanks that are automatically emptied or refilled. It also comes with a variety of settings that can be used to fine tune your cleaning preferences.

The Deebot X2 Combo Complete does a good job at vacuuming, with strong suction that effortlessly picks up most debris and even the smaller pieces of dust that other robots struggle with. Its navigation capabilities are robust, however it can sometimes get caught in the small area mats or rugs that I have in my house (which is something you can mitigate by creating a virtual boundary within the application). Its mopping is quite good as well, with a pair of spinning mops that actually lift and scrub the floors, instead of simply dragging the pad over it. The mops are also cleaned with heated water and dried in the base station when needed. The mops are also filled from the top of the base station when needed.

3. Dreame X40 Ultra

Dreame released the luxe X30 Ultra earlier this year however their latest top-of-the-line robot vacuum and mop has even more impressive features. It boasts fantastic cleaning results and hands-off maintenance making it a top contender on our top mop and robot vacuum list. Its superior mapping capabilities, RGB AI smart recognition and a long side brush guarantee a thorough, custom-designed clean.

The X40 Ultra does an excellent job of vacuuming and removing fine and large debris from both hard floors and carpets. It cleaned the dirtiest places of our tests efficiently, avoiding pet hairs and other dirt. The sweeping power is enhanced by a side brush that automatically moves out to tackle difficult-to-reach corners, and an extending mop pad that is placed along baseboards.

Its navigation is nimble it can navigate narrow spaces and climbing stairs without skipping a beat. It is able to move from one room to the next without having to reverse direction. This is beneficial for homes that have multiple rooms. Its obstacle avoidance is not as advanced than that of some competitors, and leaves a huge space around obstacles. This can lead to missing spots.
