Guild Wars 2 Item Upgrade

The stats of an item are improved by upgrading it, which is also known as "upping". Each upgrade increment boosts the stats linearly.

The actual value of the glyph is determined by the quality and tier of the item you're creating it for.

The majority of upgrade components installed into items cannot be removed or replaced without dismantling them, with the exception of legendary upgrades and equipment. If you have a rune or glyph you do not want to use, but it hasn't been applied to the gear yet, you can move the item to a different piece by using the Upgrade Glyphs menu in the Glyphs Panel. This will create a Glyph Set that includes the selected glyph.

You can take out any glyph with the help of a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool.
