The best robot hoover can clean and mop without requiring your attention, and leaves your floors spotless. Its affordable price and high-end features (such as a dirt detector) are positives.

The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests on floors that were bare They are also adept in removing dog hair. They do have some flaws however, which prevent them from being our first choice. For instance, the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance and is therefore prone to get caught up in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tight spaces very efficiently in our tests. It also doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of the room.

It's still a great deal, especially if your home or office has lots of unfinished flooring and you're looking to save some money. It's also extremely quiet and works while you are at work or in school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming feature that's available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick well and isn't able to handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle, however. And, if you have to, you can swap the mopping pad to dry ones in a matter of just a few seconds.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its intelligent cleaning maps as well as quick navigation make it easy to clean and effective in dealing with larger particles, like pet hair. It also has a self-emptying dustbin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it isn't as efficient as some of its competitors in deep cleaning.

It's a bit more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, but it has superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically emptys into its base, and supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after it vacuums, a feature that we've not seen on other robot vacuum/mop combos.

3. IRobot Roomba X40

With a sleek circular design that appears like a regular Roomba than the competitors' boxy units This mop and robot vacuum is one of the most attractive designs in our reviews. The latest model from iRobot is its most advanced and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's also the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored the perfect 10/10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a combination modern sensors, including a restructured light system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation autonomously. It also boasted an industry-leading suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mops.

Like other iRobot models, the X40 is user-friendly, offering an intuitive mobile app interface, and integration with Amazon Alexa, Apple HomeKit, and Google Assistant. The only downside is that the X40 still a loud unit. This can be a problem in the mornings before work, or in the evening when you are trying to sleep.

It's also quite expensive, though it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or the Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally capable and better-looking. It's a dual-purpose vacuum that's very capable however, it will cost you more and make more noise.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot auto vacuum and mop and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features that will let you get rid of your chores. Its vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to complete the task. It also comes with an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home based on how dirty the areas are.

For larger homes it's worth looking for models with spot or zone cleaning modes that let you tell the robot to clean a specific area of your home using the app or voice commands. If you have lots of furniture, a stair mode is also a good option. Also, a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum and mop vacuum to continue where it left off is ideal for busy families.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is more intelligent than its price would suggest. It is a good vacuum cleaner and was able to remove 55% of debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which does a better job cleaning than the other robot mop cleaners we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self-emptying base that can be washed.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules, or to set up a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to rank your most filthy areas to improve performance. The app comes with a variety of features, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

Its shape is more rectangular than other robot vacuums, meaning it can reach corners and underneath furniture better. It has a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras look like cute eyes.
