Which Lightweight Double Pushchair Should You Buy?

A lightweight double pushchair is easy to get around, particularly when you have children of different age groups. They are generally easy to steer, fold and transport up and down stairs.

Side-by-Side

The majority of lightweight double pushchairs we tested are side-by-side designs and are best suited for children that can sit up on their own because they tend to lack car seat integration. That said, the Thule Urban Glide 2 Double and Baby Trend Sit 'N Stand Double are both top choices that have recline that can be adjusted in both seats, a large canopy, and padded 5-point harnesses. They're also easy to maneuver despite their bigger footprint and are great for parents worried about fitting through doorways.

The Cybex Duet pushchair is unique because it features a unique frame that expands to accommodate a second child seat. This makes it lighter than other pushchairs that are side-by-side. It can be pushed through doors that are standard and is easy to move around on public transport. Tandem lightweight double pushchairs will generally have tighter turns than side-byside models, however they are more challenging to drive over bumps and uneven surfaces. They can also be slower to accelerate and heavier to move. This puts strain on your back.

A convertible double buggy is an additional alternative. It is initially an individual, but you can add adapters to make it double. These can include the option of a second seat or carrycot on the front, or the children can be seated side-by-side. Some can also consider adding a buggyboard, which can help an older child keep pace with younger siblings or brothers.

Its reversible seats mean that they can be switched to face either direction, and the clever way that it attaches an additional seat or riding board to the rear is highly praised by many. Parents also loved the fact that it can accommodate infant carriers and car seats from various brands. This includes a few that aren't normally compatible with other double buggies.
