Path of Exile Item Upgrades

item upgrader upgrades are a common and crucial method to enhance the performance of a variety of items in Path of Exile. They can also provide additional damage, AD or even affixes.

Rare-grade equipment is often superior to upgraded Common or Magic gear because of their high requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades are a form of upgrade that can be applied to weapon and armor items. They boost the performance of the item upgrader they're connected to. Armor upgrades are available in the world of the game and purchased from Blacksmiths on bonfires. Alternately, they can be rescued from items with upgrade components in them using a specialist or more powerful salvage kit.

The amount of damage a piece of armor or weapon will absorb is contingent on the extent of its upgrades. The upgrade of an armor piece to maximum upgrade level will increase its damage absorption. It is important to keep in mind that this will increase the weight of the armor, therefore it must be heavier.

There are a few different kinds of armor upgrades that are available in the game and they all have different effects. For instance, some upgrades will give the armor a certain number of health points while others will make it stronger and lighter. The name of the upgrade will indicate the kind of upgrade an Item Upgrade can receive, as shown below.

Some upgrades are magic or a mix of technology and magic which is indicated by an "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Furthermore, some upgrades require a fee to use, which are shown by the "Charges" entry in the table below. The charges associated with these upgrades refresh daily or never expire dependent on the upgrade.

The cheapest method of upgrading armor is with Iron Ore, which can be obtained by exploring the area and looting small loot chests. Titanium is more expensive, but can be found in the smelters of Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be applied to high-level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide significant improvements in stats and are well worth the investment.

The player must be aware that upgrading a piece to its maximum upgrade level can boost its defense. However, it will also decrease its agility and its speed. It is not recommended to upgrade armor past +9. The added defense typically isn't worth the weight and power cost of the upgrades.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades give players the ability to improve certain aspects of their weapon. Upgrades can boost the accuracy of a rifle, or the damage that shotgun shells do. Certain weapons also come with enhancements that enhance their intrinsic capabilities. These include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and minimizes the risk of overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases the velocity of projectiles for greater damage).

The majority of upgrades to weapons require one of three Power Dices, a different amount of Minerals and Erons and a whetblade to apply. They can be gained by completing Side Quests or by killing a certain number of bosses and monsters.

In Chapter 2: Season 5, the way you upgrade your weapon and equipment sets changed a little. Prior to Chapter 2 Season 5 you could upgrade your weapon or equipment by paying a specific number of Bars. You could do this until the weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level and at that point, the upgrades would be reset.

You can still do this but the process is high on RNG and low on agency. Instead, you're much better off going to the stores and buying equipment with low upgrade levels but good base scores and stat distributions. These items will have a higher likelihood of granting you highest tier advantages and benefits.

The majority of players will prioritize upgrades to the weapons they use most frequently to allow them to progress faster. Players should also upgrade the weapons their squadmates utilize to increase their power. For instance, Shepard should consider upgrading the M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R, which will increase its utility when accompanied by biotech specialists such as Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels are placed in the sockets of armor and weapons, increasing a stat and providing secondary effects. They can be made through an process known as jewelry crafting, in which you combine a gemstone and a number of specific ingredients at a table for jewelry. The higher the grade of the gemstone is, the greater its secondary effect. These reagents can be gotten from Treasure Goblins and World Bosses in the world, or by finding Legendary Gear. You can also buy them from The Jeweler for gold and a Scattered Prism.

The Jeweler can enhance the quality of gemstones in stages ranging from Crude up to Royal. Based on the level of the gem, it will provide a different stat boosts when inserted into weapons, gear and jewelry.

All tiers of jewels are crafted at the Jeweler and Jeweler's Workshop, with the exception of the rare and legendary gems that require you to be at a high enough level to be able to get the privilege of having them. Jewels can be substituted with another jewel without destroying the original. You can only replace the jewel only once in a piece of equipment.

Using more jewels in a movement will make it more smooth and is usually done for aesthetic reasons. Apart from improving performance, the jewels create an area that is stronger than metal, which means that repeated friction with pivots doesn't cause damage as easily.

In addition to the above upgrades, the player can also acquire glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. Other upgrade components like traits or aegis cannot be exchanged, and can only be recovered by using an Upgrade extractor or salvaging using the Black Lion Salvage Kit or Ascended Salvage tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets are items of equipment that provide a wide range of tiny but valuable advantages to your hero. They are available in the starting area as loot or as personal story rewards. They can also be obtained from vendors as well as through the completion of road interactions. They can also be made by jewelers, and found or purchased at the Trading Post.

The first trinkets that a player unlocks will be the cloak. It grants an unimportant but beneficial boost in speed of movement and evasion. Then, they can get amulets, rings, and necklaces in a similar fashion to how the player can acquire weapons and armor. Each piece of gear comes with one upgrade slot that can accommodate either a universal upgrade or a jewel upgrade. Universal upgrades offer fewer benefits and can be put into any type of equipment, however, jewelry cannot be replaced or upgraded and is only compatible with specific types of trinkets.

These trinkets can provide additional bonuses and abilities that are active when the hero isn't fighting. As a rule trinket upgrades should be a priority BiS (Best in Slot) items you won't replace anytime soon. Then, you should consider any items with desirable statistics that aren't as significant as the iLevel of the item that is to be upgraded. This is especially true when an item upgrader mod has multiple stats that you'd like to upgrade, as it's often better to upgrade a single crucial stat than two subpar ones.

In the beginning of the game, players in the jungle are likely to upgrade their yellow trinket into a red one, while top and middle players usually choose the pink or green ward (depending on the game's matchup). These choices will have a major impact on the hero's abilities to control maps.

In addition to the items mentioned above, players can find other trinkets throughout the game in the form of trophies and awards. These can be obtained by completing certain milestones within the story, for instance finishing a chapter's main quest or killing a certain boss. They can be viewed by selecting the relevant achievement in the reward tab of the hero menu.
