WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades can give you boosts in certain statistics. Each upgrade boosts the level of an item by 3. Each upgrade also boosts a random substat.

The upgraded gear typically has a higher trade value as long as it meets low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or a very high stat variance (like the eth titan weapons). The latter are less valuable from upgrading due to the necessity to roll to get a perfect version.

Recycle Points

The item upgrader enables players to upgrade their gear to a higher level by supplying the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades can be applied to any type of weapon or armor. The item used to upgrade the item will be consumed and can't be used again. Upgrades can be used to create Enchantments.

The upgrader is located in all major cities and is accessible at any time to upgrade your gear. To keep your gear current it is recommended you visit the upgrader every few weeks.

The cost of upgrades will vary based on the current level of the equipment being upgraded but they will always be cheaper than purchasing new equipment from other sources. The cost of upgrading is based on the slot of the item and the current level of the item upgrade, with weapons costing more than gloves or bracers, for instance. Each step costs 15 Flightstones plus a set number of crests. Some upgrades offer a discount on the Flightstones. Once an item is upgraded to a certain degree it can be re-downgraded and sold to the upgrader at a lower cost.

A lot of locations offer upgraders for items which include the main island and a few outposts. The NPCs offer both an upgrade discount and a chance to acquire a new upgrade recipe. The upgrade discount increases with the number of items that are being upgraded. It can also be boosted by having players complete specific achievements or quests.
