How to Replace an audi key fob not working G28 Engine Speed Sensor

Charles the Humble Technician teaches how to replace the G28 Engine Speed Sensor. The sensor is located on the outside of the transmission, above the flywheel gear. It sends a signal to the ECU via a grey wire (T55/49) and then to the tachometer in the instrument cluster.

The grey wire is situated on the outside of the transmission, just above the flywheel ring. The sensor sends signals through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU then uses this information to control fuel, timig and boost. It also sends an indication to the G5 tachometer in the instrument cluster.

The sensor serves as a reference for comparing with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu needs to know when the crankshaft reached TDC, and the location of the camshaft to trigger the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails, the ECU will display a P00160 error message. This means that the Crank Shaft is not in sync with the Intake Camshaft. It could also be a sign of an issue with the chain or a jumpy chain link in the upper timing chain. The code won't appear without the additional information supplied by other sensors (G4 or G40).

It's a bit tricky to test because there are various pins on the connector car replacement key for audi a3 cover audi, squareblogs.net, and each one has different functions. The most effective method to test it is to measure the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. When the sensor is operational, it should read about 1000 ohms. Check for evidence of coolant or oil in the connector bay if you are experiencing issues with this part.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, when accelerating from highway paytoll at a high speed, i noticed a huge drop in power. It was as if the engine had run out of gas. Or my injectors were not firing. I pulled out the spark plugs this morning, 3 were soaked with gasoline and the 4th was dry. When I crank the engine without sparks i put tissue on the top of each of the injector holes and the 3 that were drenched in gazoline pop out, but the 4th stay closed. I inspected the ground connection on ECU pins 14/55, 30/55 and 48/55. i get zero Ohm. I assume that the problem is in another location.

I also tried to reset PID but without success. The car will start when the G28 is disconnected, but it works fine when the G28 connected. However, the intermittent misfire problem continues to occur at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62) even when unplugged, still shows temperatures of -49c. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar but the actual pressure is zero.

I'm not sure what to do. I think I've eliminated everything else. But i am afraid I may have missed something. If anyone has any ideas please let me know! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 can be activated by a signal from the RPM sensor. The GM-style sender is the same as the G4 and both function in the 80, 100 200, UrS and RS2 cars which is why you can easily locate one at a salvage yard or at a parts store. It is simple to test them - simply put your DMM into resistance mode and measure the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump at the connector's end facing up). They must be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

Our 20vt turbo (3B, AAN, ABY and ADU) engines are equipped with an ECU that must know the position and speed of the crankshaft in order to make decisions regarding timing of the fuel injectors, etc. To do this, it makes use of a Crank Position Sensor (G4) and audi q7 key an Engine Speed Sensor (G28). If you have a problem with either of these sensors, the diagnostic scanner will display codes that could cause an engine shut down.

A damaged G28 sensor can cause an inaccurate speed counter for your gearbox and a gearbox which shifts more quickly than normal, and/or an unfire when in the gear. It is probable that your sensor is failing and requires to be replaced if you experience any of these signs. They are cheap and easy-to-find, especially when they're an Bosch unit like ours. Alternatively, GM's version of this part is an option.

5. Tachometer

A failing engine sensor could cause a number of problems within your vehicle. It's an essential component of the transmission of your audi tt key replacement, as it transmits information to the ECU about how fast or slowly the engine is spinning. This sensor can cause the transmission to fail and other components in the car to be affected.

It transmits a signal to the ECU at pin T55/49 via an uncolored wire. The ECU uses this signal to regulate the amount of fuel and boost, and also to timigrate. It also sends it to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster. You can test for sensor failure by examining the continuity from the sensor to the tachometer. You can also verify continuity between pin T55/49 of the ECU and pin T6a/1 of the instrument cluster (trace [79trace [79]), and between pin T6a/1 and pin T26a/12. You should see around 1000 ohms of resistance between those two pins. This is a common component across the replacement audi key cost Uk 80, 100, 200, UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC until the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU, so the best ones might be availble in wrecking yards.
